DETOURS June 2021 Update:   Robert Kohler  |   Bruere Gallery

Robert Kohler

Publisher's note: dedicated to fine art, we don't normally present work that is not directly fine art related. But occasionally work is brought to our attention that, while not an exact fit, is of such high caliber that it warrants presentation.

Robert Kohler, a Swiss designer living near Paris, France, is not a fine art artist in the traditional sense.

Originally an industrial designer, Kohler received several distinctions from GM’s Fisher Body Craftsman’s Guild competitions in his youth. Since 2005 he has worked on PETITE HISTOIRE DE L’AUTOMOBILE (Little History of the Automobile) ...a show of 125 dioramas showing 660 models in 1/43 scale.

The collection has been on exhibition for the past 18 months at the CITE DE L’AUTOMOBILE-COLLECTION SCHLUMPF in Mulhouse, France. Last November, a book of that collection was edited by in French, where 72 pages of the book can be viewed. An English translation is now distributed in the USA
